Consider the fabulous beaches of the Dominican Republic.
Punta Cana has a lot of different beaches, many of them wide and all boasting clean white or golden yellow sands. Several beaches are ranked as one of the world's best by the European Blue Flag corporation, notorious for its stringent ecological and water-quality standards. The DR, overall, has more Blue Flag beaches compared to any other Caribbean island. Here are some of the beaches should you be looking for a great spot to relax. Although all are situated on the Atlantic, some tend to have tranquil waters when the beach runs steadily into the water. Except where mentioned, beach snorkeling typically has limitations due to heavy boat traffic. Good coral reefs tend to be offshore. Water temps achieve a winter low in the upper 70s and reach a summer high in the top 80s. Here are some lovely beaches:

Bavaro Beach: The most developed section of the East Coast resort strip, the Bavaro area, is dotted with hotels, restaurants and gift shops right on the beach. The area is one strip of sparkling white sand that extends 30 miles (48 kilometers) surrounded by coral reefs. Most of this stretch of beach is walkable and is the perfect place to book beach activities, ranging from parasailing to speed-boat riding.

Macao Beach: An undeveloped, virgin beach around 20 to 30 minute drive north of Bavaro. Driving there you pass through the little town of El Macao, and as you reach the crest of the hill you’ll see the beautiful sight of Macao beach spread out before you. There is Macao Surf Camp, where you can rent or get surfing lesson, and restaurants right on the beach. Macao beach is popular with local Dominicans (especially at weekends), and serves as a stop off point for a cooling swim for many of the safari truck tours and the ATV/buggy tours.

Cabeza de Toro: Playa Cabeza de Toro is the perfect place if you want to be surrounded by the natural beautiful forests and wildlife of Punta Cana. If you like you can take a horseback riding excursion through the forests at the Natura Park Eco-Resort.
